Our Projects

Since February 2002, group cleanup events have been successfully organized, yielding outstanding results. During these events, volunteers gather at designated locations and spend up to four hours cleaning their assigned sections of the river. CVRCS coordinates two official group cleanups each year—one in April and one on the 4th Sunday in September, which coincides with BC Rivers Day. Additionally, we host hotspot cleanups throughout the year as needed.

The Adopt a River Program, in collaboration with the City of Chilliwack, connects service clubs, individuals, businesses, faith communities, and other organizations to the Chilliwack Vedder River. Like successful Adopt a Road programs, the river is divided into sections (1-2 km long) that can be adopted. Volunteers monitor their designated section regularly and participate in two annual cleanups. This program not only helps reduce cleanup costs but also fosters a meaningful connection between our beautiful river valley and the people who care for it.
